Function Define a function

Ethereum mainnet · cryptographic infrastructure

ƒ is public.
P and x are not.

Put a formula on Ethereum without showing it. Anyone can run it on numbers they keep to themselves, and the chain checks the answer with a proof before it stores it or pays anyone.

Private inputs Checked on chain No owner
One call, start to finish checked
1 · the author writes ƒ(x) = x0*7 + x1*3 - x2*2 + 100
2 · the chain keeps 0x00a57c065d…04b59bf8 (the formula itself stays private)
3 · a caller asks x = hidden, and attaches 0.03 ETH
4 · the answer comes with a proof made in a browser, 614 ms
5 · the chain checks it 216 319 gas → y = 193
6 · and only then pays 0.03 bounty · 0.01 author · 0.01 to the function

How it works

Three parts, and that is the whole protocol.

i · write

A formula, kept private

You write something like 3*x0 + x1. The site turns it into a fixed shape the chain can check, and only a fingerprint of it is published. Nobody sees the formula unless you decide to publish it.

ii · call

A question, with the numbers hidden

Anyone can ask your function a question. Their four numbers never appear anywhere — only a fingerprint of them does — and they attach whatever they want to pay for an answer.

iii · answer

An answer nobody has to trust

Whoever can run the formula posts the result with a proof. Ethereum checks the proof itself, in one transaction, and only pays once it holds. No oracle, no committee, no promises.

The canon

Functions, ranked by what their own use bought.

Where the money goes

A function that gets used buys the coin. A function that closes gives it back.

Every answered call pays a fee. Half of it is the author's. The other half belongs to the function: anyone can spend it buying ƒ on the market, and what it buys is held under that function's name. That is its weight, and weight is what ranks this list.

Nothing is burned and nothing is locked. The author can close a function at any time: it stops taking calls, and everything it ever accumulated goes back to them in one transaction.
